A delicious mulled wine recipe that goes perfectly with our winter tea.
-
Ingredients:
- 1 bottle of red wine (750 ml, e.g. Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon)
- 2 cups of water
- 4 tsp winter tea
- 100 g sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3-4 cloves
- 1 star anise
- 1 orange (cut into slices)
- 1 lemon (cut into slices)
- Optional: A dash of rum or brandy for extra warmth
Preparation:
Brew the winter tea: Bring the water to the boil in a small saucepan. Pour the winter tea into tea bags and leave to infuse for approx. 8-10 minutes. Then remove the tea bags.
Prepare the mulled wine: In a large saucepan, heat the red wine together with the brewed winter tea. Make sure that the wine does not boil, but is only gently warmed.
Add the spices: Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, star anise and the orange slices and lemon slices. Stir in the sugar and leave everything to infuse over a low heat for around 20 minutes so that the flavors blend well.
Taste: Taste the mulled wine and adjust the sweetness to your taste. If you like, you can also add a dash of rum or brandy.
Serve: Pour the mulled wine through a sieve into heat-resistant glasses or cups and serve hot. You can garnish with a cinnamon stick or a slice of orange.
Tips: For a non-alcoholic version, you can use grape juice or apple juice instead of red wine. Experiment with other spices such as ginger or nutmeg for additional flavors.
Enjoy your homemade mulled wine with the special aroma of your winter tea! Cheers!
